Bad Luck at Chateau Marmont - Hotels Where Bad S%$# Happens

Murray Bevan | August 1st, 2006

“If you are going to get into trouble, do it at the Chateau Marmont”. A fitting introduction from the lips of Harry Cohn, founder of Columbia Pictures.

But we think the quote should be changed to “If you’re going to die, do it at the Chateau Marmont”.

In 1982, celebrity guest and actor John Belushi died of a drug overdose in one of the Chateau’s hotel bungalows, Jim Morrison used up what he called the eighth of his nine lives when he fell out of a hotel window there and fashion photographer Helmut Newton died when his car crashed into a wall on the driveway of the hotel.

We suspect the hotel’s history has a lot yet to be added to it. News is that Lindsay Lohan rents a room there specifically for her clothes. Oh what a hard life she has.
