Lake Clearwater

About two hours drive from Christchurch, in the Rakaia area of Canterbury, at the base of the Southern Alps is Lake Clearwater. In addition to being a great spot for windsurfing and fishing, Clearwater has an assortment of low tech and charming lakefront properties. Building regulations restrict new construction and the renovation of existing properties, meaning the old railway houses and caravans will not be over shadowed by waterfront apartment complexes any time soon.
