This was taken on Veleko Yezera, (Big Lake) on the island of Mljet off the coast of Croatia. We had driven from Zagreb to Dubrovnik and taken our car on ferries transporting it and us to different islands. This island was undoubtedly my favourite.
Mljet is derived from the Croatian word for honey, the smell of which saturates the entire island, especially when you walk through the forests of this magical place. There are loads of bees- so many that there is a constant hum. But they are all too distracted to even think about stinging people.

We took a canoe from one side of the lake to the other, falling over the side whenever it got too hot. I love the peace in this picture. It’s simple.
