Hawke’s Bay

Derek Henderson | March 1st, 2007

I was born in the Bay at Napier and recently returned there for a job. Hawkes Bay, or Hawke Bay to the purists, is a fantastic place to visit in summer time as it is so hot and arid. You can practically see the heat shimmer off the hills. There is a great Farmers Market in the shade of trees next to the lily pond at the Hastings AMP show grounds every Sunday. Head there for any of the great beaches that make up the Bay - among my favourites are Haumoana, Te Awanga, Ocean Beach, Clifton and Waimarama. The church is on Omahu Road.
