Park Life

In the midst of the concrete jungle that I live in there are pieces of tranquility and peace found in NYC parks. It’s only in this crazy little place called Manhattan where you live on an island but rarely you get to sunbathe by the water (unless you retreat to Long Island or The Jersey Shore). New Yorkers are left to lay out in one of the many grassy knolls in parks around the city. During the warm days of the sweltering summer, the park services put on loads of concerts from Battery Park to Central Park. Where else could you see the reunion of the cult band Television (which was amazing) for free? Why Central Park Summerstage, of course. My main stomping ground is Tompkins Square Park where I spend my time reading, writing, and hanging out with friends and my mornings are spent sitting with my dog Gizmo in the dog park while sipping my coffee, reading the paper, and playing with the fury ones. It’s great because they separate the little tikes (dogs under 23 lbs) from the bigger pups. It’s quite a sight to see the dogs frolicking around, completely Zen.
