NSW South Coast - 10 of the Best Summer Holidays

Gun your chariot past Wollongong and you’ll have two of Australia’s biggest cities in your rear view mirror. Don’t it feel good. Vistas become greener and roads quieter the further south you roll. There’s touristy stuff on offer but it doesn’t jump out and wack you over the head like the brash towns of the north coast. South of Sydney there are more national parks than fun parks and dusty work utes outnumber “Wicked” vans five to one. South of Bateman’s Bay you really get into cow country. Houses squat on acreages, towns are small and far apart and a gathering of three kangaroos is a cause for excitement. So what is there to do? Hike, surf, fish, golf, swim, camp out or laze on a pristine, secluded beach with your girl, your boy or your well-supplied esky. The south coast is about downsizing. Good bye nightclub, hello country.
