Who says that space equals luxury? Yo! Sushi mogul Simon Woodroffe is challenging this idea with his new compact hotel rooms that gives you everything you would like in a lavish suite in the comfort of your airport. Woodroffe was inspired by the idea while traveling, “I was lucky enough to get an upgrade to the sleeper bed in British Airways first class. I went to sleep with the conundrum of how to make a Japanese capsule hotel acceptable in the west and woke up realising the solution was around me: all I needed to do was find the designer of the BA first class cabin and ask them to help me design a hotel.” Australian designer Marc Newson (who in 2005 was one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people of the year) helped Woodroffe make his vision a reality.

Have a layover and need to catch up on sleep or work? Starting at 70$ a night (four hours or more) you can relax in this 7 square meter room that includes a bed, work desk, flat screen TVs (choose between movies or just watch TV), free WiFi, and a bathroom (complete with shower, towels, and hairdryer). Don’t have everything you need in the room? Well, there is a cabin service menu where you can order what you want 24 hours a day. The only downfall is that it’s currently only available to those who pass through Gatwick Airport in London.
