Summer is a great time to be in Sydney. Beaches are sizzling, bars are packed, events are in swing and many of the locals are out of town. Australia’s biggest annual festival, The Sydney Festival, kicks off on NYE with a celebration of all things Sydney: energy, style, spectacle, sophistication and cosmo flair. Theatre performances, exhibitions, screenings and concerts run throughout January, some for free. Jazz in the Domain too posh? Get along to Homebake, Good Vibrations or the Big Day Out for the best line ups in local and international music. First time visitors should visit Bondi, climb the Harbour bridge, ride the Manly ferry and roam the northern beaches. This is a good looking town, ripe with opportunity. You don’t need a festival to pay Sydney a visit. You just need a plane ticket.
