Taken on the hike up to the top of Villarica Volcano (the home of the Devil) near Pucon, Chile, this shot shows the remains of a chapel built many years ago. Local lore given by our guide on the day says that a number of nuns were praying there one night when the volcano erupted and a lava flow killed them all. Now, the burnt out husk is used as a toilet by grateful climbers. I wish I could say the view from the top was amazing, but I only made it 3/4 of the way up. So, this shot reminds me of the time I raced with the devil and lost.
