Eating Comfort Food in L.A.
Murray Bevan | December 7th, 2008
My recent trip to Los Angeles brought to life all my wildest junk food dreams. I have the world’s sweetest tooth, and it was given a good workout over the 12 days I was in the U.S.A.
Pinkberry is a cult in L.A, so the first sighting of it in the Beverly Centre couldn’t be passed up. Their slightly sweet, rich, creamy frozen yoghurt with delectable (and healthy) toppings was a delicious snack.
Sbarro pizza was my favourite new find. The States is the best place to find pizza by the slice, and Sbarro didn’t let me down.
Haagen-Dazs has long been a favourite of mine. I can remember back in ‘87 eating Haagen-Dazs with almonds down on Venice Beach with my mum, wearing skull; cross-bones board shorts and skating on a mini Vision Psycho Stick skate board. I was so cool.
Pepperidge Farm Chocolate Chunk cookies were a new find for me, too. Small, portable, no-mess packaging and easy-to-consume yumminess!
And what would a fridge be if it didn’t have a little bit of Minute Maid in it? Lemonade was my favourite. And the cartons are gigantic!!
