The Getty Center

If my three years of architecture training taught me anything, it’s to appreciate the architectural ‘moments’ in life.
The Getty Center in Los Angeles (the second one after the original in Santa Monica) is full of such moments.
After being appointed in 1984, architect Richard Meier put the finishing touches on the centre in 1997, when it opened to the public. His rumoured feud with landscape architect Robert Irwin about the building’s integration with the gardens has nonetheless produced a masterwork of visual and sensory delight which, judging by the huge crowd numbers at The Getty on the day we visited, is enjoyed by all who visit it.
Here are some candid snaps of a few hours wandering through the grounds.
