Eateries We Love - Peter Pan Bakery

Deana Bianco | June 22nd, 2010

I have a new Sunday morning tradition - coffee, dog park and a pit stop at the Peter Pan Bakery in Greenpoint. Since donuts are my weakness, Peter Pan Bakery is my kryptonite. The selection of homemade donuts (no preservatives) are unreal – red velvet cake, marble crullers, chocolate cake, glazed sour cream, and bowties which melts in your mouth when you bite into them. The charm of the bakery sends you back to old school Brooklyn with seating around the counter and sullen looking Polish girls in polyester pink and mint green uniforms serving you. Besides donuts they have a standard selection of food for breakfast – egg and cheeses, danishes, coffee cakes, and bagels. Tina Fay recently told Esquire Magazine that she became a fan of the white-cream powdered donut while shooting an episode of 30 Rock in the neighborhood. As a summer treat, indulge in a donut ice cream sandwich. You can’t eat just one, so be prepared to nurse your food coma.
