Warhol’s Last Decade at The Brooklyn Museum

This month I had the opportunity to experience Target’s First Sunday’s at The Brooklyn Museum. I attended the opening of Andy Warhol’s: The Last Decade and as someone who is a sucker for Mr. Warhol, it was quite an evening. My favorite pieces of his career, which can be seen at the museum, are his Oxidations – copper paint on canvas oxidized with urine. Other highlights of the show include pieces from his collaboration with Jean-Michael Basquiat as well as photographs Warhol took of celebrities like Mick Jagger, Dolly Parton and Dennis Hopper. Oh, and have I mentioned the dancing? The museum closes the parking lot where DJ’s spin an eclectic array of tunes and the whole place turns into a giant dance floor. Be sure to dress to impress because fashionistas, hipsters, hip-hop homeboys, skaters, and hippies all come out of the woodwork and mingle. The only downside is it shuts down at 11pm.
