Hotels We Love - La Column d’Or

Katie Lockhart | September 17th, 2010

La Column d’Or has long been the restaurant, (not to mention boutique accommodation) that friends had been to and I had dreamt about - thankfully a recent trip to Cannes corrected this. Just a short drive from Cannes, La Column d’Or is perched up on the hillside of Saint-Paul de Vence. Eating outdoors under the trees, with over head lighting supplied from hollowed out gourds with bare bulbs in them, the vegetable basket is a must have as is a poolside linger - yes, that is a Calder stabile at the end of the pool. A local hangout for the likes of Picasso, Calder and Miro in the 1950’s has meant that the art collection is an inspiration in itself.
