Chez Omar has been in fashion for longer than anyone can remember. Maybe this bustling couscous restaurant is a fashion institution because there are few calories in a steaming vat of Moroccan vegetables, maybe the secret is, however packed it is, there is always such a cheery scene and the waiters are charming.
Order the classic (a huge plate of cousous, a huge vat of vegetables) then add grilled chicken if you are hungry. For desert, do order the traditional Middle Eastern honey-soaked patisseries. These arrive stacked on vast plates, however you pay per piece. Add mint tea and tuck in.
Chez Omar, 47, rue de Bretagne, 75003 Paris (closed sunday lunchtime); + 33 1 42 72 36 26
