While it is unlikely you’ll find yourself in Alice Springs, bang in the centre of Outback Australia, should you do so, avoid the noisy hotels and check in to The Good Rest B&B.
Now, normally I hate B&Bs; hate all that breakfast at 7am and out by 8am and don’t come back til dark stuff. The Good Rest, run by the lovely Margaret, is not like that. You get your own rather vast villa and use of the swimming pool. Breakfast is either cooked by Margaret or DIY and is extremely generous. And get this; you get greeted in the evening with a bottle of wine and nibbles. Those who don’t like chatting to the landlady might stay elsewhere, however given she’s lovely and even took my washing in and folded it far better than I ever do, I can’t recommend this place highly enough.
That said, you’d have to be in Alice Springs. Which is unlikely….
