I have always wanted to do the Tongariro Crossing and it did not disappoint. Six hours of huffing, puffing, big views and tasty snacks. I would totally recommend it.

A short train ride from New York to New Cannan, step across the road from the train station to the information office and check in. A short ride in a mini van to the Glasshouse and you are there. The idyliic hideaway that was designed by architect Philip Johnson for himself and partner [...]

If you love Carlo Scarpa or Olivetti typewriters then this will be your thing. A small space in Piazza San Marco (Venice) was transformed by Carlo Scarpa between 1956 - 1959 for Olivetti as their showroom. The nicest surprise on my recent European trip was Basel. Although planned primarily as a two day birthday surprise for a friend who was in Basel for the art fair we found that our days quickly filled with some of the most amazing things I have ever seen.
Our pilgrimage to Le Corbusier’s Ronchamp was [...]

Finally after many years of working and even living in Milan, I have found a hotel that I would recommend! Antica Locanda is a boutique hotel that has been open since 1926 with 11 rooms that are all different, some with beautiful planted balconies. With buckets of rickety charm and being located in [...]

Usually the flight from London to Milan and then Milan to London is the easiest part of my route to the Furniture Fair which begins in New Zealand. This year, however, the volcano in Iceland with the unpronouceable name changed that. Initially we were all a little bit blase about the impact of the ‘dust cloud’ on [...]
