The Book Kitchen was just one of a long list of recommendations I was given recently when I traveled to Sydney for Australian Fashion Week, and it turned out to be a real gem.
It’s a cute little spot, just across the road from The Bourke Street Bakery. Bourke Street and Crown Street in Surry [...]

Across the road from The Book Kitchen sits The Bourke Street Bakery. Nestled in the ground floor of a corner site, the service area is only about 4sq metres, and glass cabinets bursting with freshly-baked treats seem to surround you.
Top picks are the Strawberry & Vanilla Creme Brulee tarts, the iced coffee, an array [...]

The Best Christmas Window this year goes to my favourite vintage furniture store in Sydney, Ken Neale’s Twentieth Century Modern. There’s not a snippet of tinsel in site.

Clovelly is a sweet suburb a couple of beaches south of Bondi, and north of Coogee. There is a small village about 7min walk up the hill from the beach, that is home to Clodeli, a delicious cafe and deli that serves great corn cakes with tomato salsa and wasabi.
The village also has a great [...]

Whilst staying in Paddington a few months ago, I met Mrs. Rutonski on her way to see the Sydney Swans play at the nearby SCG. I was impressed by her matching jacket, hat, scarf and backpack in Swans’ colours, topped off with an Adam Schneider badge, and she was kind enough to let me take [...]

Summer is a great time to be in Sydney. Beaches are sizzling, bars are packed, events are in swing and many of the locals are out of town. Australia’s biggest annual festival, The Sydney Festival, kicks off on NYE with a celebration of all things Sydney: energy, style, spectacle, sophistication and cosmo [...]

I have eaten in some pretty rough places in India and China, but my most scary dining experience took place in Bondi.
Desperately hungry after a long day of walking the Sydney beaches, my partner and I made the mistake of stopping in the first place we saw.
As we ate and our hunger-induced haze started to [...]

In a city obsessed with good food it’s hard to pick just one stand out in Sydney but one of my faves there is a classic, Cafe Sydney. Its location, virtually right on the water between The Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, makes Cafe Sydney a good option any day but especially if you’re [...]

There’s a lot that’s great about Sydney but my favourite Sydney experience is Watsons Bay. Tourists often visit Watsons Bay for the legendary Doyles Seafood Restaurant but if you’re in Sydney anytime in the warm months (from October to April) there’s a lot more to this neighbourhood than a [...]
